Welcome to my Website...

I'm Jo and I live in a lovely stone cottage in a small South Yorkshire market town.

Why the name Solstice Days? Well my birthday is June 21st, also known as the summer solstice and I got married on my birthday, hence the name Solstice Days!

I love to create pretty and practical items using both new fabrics in this shop and upcycled items from pre-loved fabrics, which you can find on
https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/BarnsleyBlogBags.

The photo's you see are the items I've made from my own designs. When using 'pdf patterns', I credit the pattern designer.

Solstice Days can be found on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and my website www.solstice-days.co.uk has gallery pages featuring handmade items including shoulder bags, shopping bags, keyrings, household items such as peg bags, quilts, braided rugs, table runners and sewing machine covers.

Fabric left from projects is made into bags for the Sew Powerful Purse Project.

Inspired by the films Yanks (1979) and The War Bride (2001), where people had to ‘make do and mend’ by re-using fabrics to create new items and so my interest in sewing and recycling began.

Recycling isn't rubbish, Upcycling is unique! Creating Pre-loved, Pretty and Practical Handmade Items.

I started off making patchwork cushion covers from velvet scraps, progressing to making an applique cot quilt and bumper set to celebrate my son's 1st birthday.

From making handmade presents for family and friends.

I wanted to learn more, going to sewing classes to make clothes and curtains but otherwise I'm self-taught.

I recycle/upcycle fabrics, occasionally buying new fabrics, to create one off individual items.

More Upcycled items can be found in my other Etsy shop

The gallery pages feature a range of items such as shoulder bags and eco friendly shopping bags.

Homeware items such as peg bags, table runners, patchwork quilts, rag quilts and braided rugs. Accessories such as keyrings, coin purses, lanyards and make up bags.

Handmade in Yorkshire, no 'stock' photos are used, the photo's you see are the items I've made. Prices include pockets, zips and magnetic fasteners, I don't charge extra for these!
